On November 15, 2024, Wang Rui from the China Cooperative Research Institute gave a special report titled Research on the Impact of Participating in Cooperatives on Water saving Production Behavior in Food and Agriculture at the Guangxue Building. All students in the institute listened to the report. Wang Rui first sorted out and integrated relevant papers on water-saving production by domestic and foreign scholars, elaborating on the theory of farmer behavior, farmer technology adoption behavior and its influencing factors, water-saving production technology, and the impact of farmers joining cooperatives on water-saving production behavior. He explained the theoretical and practical significance, and introduced the research methods, technical routes, innovations, and shortcomings used in this study. The paper is based on agricultural data from Hebei, Henan and other regions, and uses propensity score matching (PSM) to analyze the impact of participating in cooperatives on the water-saving production behavior of farmers. And it was ultimately concluded that participating in cooperatives has a significant promoting effect on the adoption of water-saving irrigation technology by farmers. After joining the cooperative, farmers can learn and master knowledge related to water-saving production, broaden their channels for obtaining technical information, and are more likely to make decisions on adopting water-saving irrigation technologies. In the end, Professor Liu Zongzhi provided comments and corrections on the scientificity, practical significance, and shortcomings of research methods in student thesis topics, and deeply analyzed the key points and difficulties of academic research for everyone.
