On November 1, 2024, Xiao Mingqi of the China Cooperative Research Institute gave a lecture entitled “Research on the Impact of Cooperative Alienation on the Common Wealth of Farmers” in the Guangxue Building, which was attended by all the students of the college. Mr. Xiao Mingqi firstly discussed the issue of common prosperity in rural areas and the development of cooperatives with all the students. Against the background of the alienation phenomenon of cooperatives, the paper paid attention to the story of how the alienation phenomenon of cooperatives squeezes out ordinary farmers, thus aggravating the inequality of income distribution in rural areas. Taking farmers' cooperatives as an example, the thesis provides empirical evidence from the fact that cooperatives are able to obtain more high-quality resources than small farmers and the existence of “rent-seeking behavior”, which together form the phenomenon of crowding out of traditional small farmers, and impede the operation mechanism of cooperatives to promote the common prosperity of farmers. Cooperative alienation makes cooperatives an obstacle to the realization of the goal of common prosperity for farmers, and even causes the phenomenon of income inequality in rural areas to increase. How cooperatives can reduce the welfare loss caused by alienation in the transformation process needs further discussion and analysis. In the end, Mr. Liu Zongzhi commented and corrected the students on the scientific nature of the topic, the practical significance and the shortcomings of the research methodology, and analyzed the key points and difficulties of academic research.
