Abstract: Under the Confucian culture of "familial ugliness must not be publicized", the elderly in my country usually choose to swallow their words when faced with domestic abuse. Based on the data of the fourth sampling survey of the living conditions of the elderly in urban and rural areas in China in 2015, this study uses the Logit model to analyze the risk of family abuse among the elderly and the influencing factors of choosing to hold back. The study found that the annual incidence of domestic abuse among the elderly in my country was 5.36%, and the proportion who chose to swallow it up was 35.77%. The more sons, the higher the risk of domestic abuse in the elderly and the probability of the elderly choosing to swallow their words. The more daughters, the higher the risk of domestic abuse in the elderly, but the effect on the choice of swallowing behavior is not significant. Overall, it is shown that "raising children does not prevent old age", and having more children does not prevent the occurrence of elder abuse.
