On June 1st, Meiling Chen and Changyue Xu delivered their academic reports respectively on The Study on Agricultural Ecological Efficiency and Its Influencing Factors in China and The Study on Influencing Factors of Retirement of the Elderly in China. Some teachers, graduate students and undergraduates of our college attended the forum presided by teacher Min Liu.
Meiling Chen studied agricultural ecological efficiency and its influencing factors of 31 provinces from 2012 to 2016 with DEA-Malmquist exponential model and Tobit regression model. Moreover, some suggestions were put forward from three facets---financial support in agriculture, educational training and scale production. By reference to the database of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey (CHARLS), Changyue Xu studied the influence of economic variables and non-economic variables on the retirement of the middle-aged and elderly people in China, with collected high quality micro date of individuals and families of middle-aged and elderly people in China. At last, the teachers and students present at the meeting had a heated discussion with strong academic atmosphere. The academic forum which is informative and insightful broadened the horizons of the students and teachers, providing them with a deeper understanding of agricultural ecological efficiency in China and the retirement intention of the middle-aged and elderly people.
