On June 20, our school invited ProfessorSong Shi from the University of Technology Sydney to give an online academic report titled "Chinese capital pushes up Australian housing prices?"Part of the teachers and graduate students attended the lecture presided by Dean Lijian Qin.

First,Song Shi detailed the evolution of Australian housing prices, and introduced the role of foreign buyers in the local housing market. Secondly,Song Shi conducts an empirical analysis on the influencing factors of housing prices in the Chinese area of Sydney by using the propensity score matching method and the difference-in-difference method. The study found that international capital flows generated by China's foreign exchange quota management had a significant impact on housing prices in Sydney's Chinese districts, suggesting that Chinese capital is closely related to the Australian real estate market. Third,Song Shi put forward targeted suggestions for the policy practice of stabilizing the international real estate market based on the characteristics of Australian housing price evolution.

The academic forum which is informative and insightful broadened the horizons of the students and teachers, providing them with a deeper understanding of the capital flows in international real estate markets.
