On May 5, Kun Xu gave an academic report titled "Long-term care insurance policy, household income level and household consumption".Part of the teachers and graduate students attended the lecture presided by Ding Fang.

First, Kun Xu introduced in detail the link between the health of the elderly and household consumption, and listed relevant cases and related research methods. Secondly, based on the data of the fourth phase of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey (CHARLS), Kun Xu used the double-difference method to evaluate the impact of long-term care insurance policies on household consumption, and revealed how long-term care insurance policies affected household income levels through mediation effect analysis. This in turn affects the mechanism of action of household consumption. The research shows that the long-term care insurance policy has a significant positive effect on household consumption, especially the cities and towns in the eastern and central regions are more affected by the policy impact. Finally, based on the perspective of social security, Kun Xu provides targeted policy suggestions for giving full play to the health and economic effects of long-term care insurance.

The academic forum which is informative and insightful broadened the horizons of the students and teachers, providing them with a deeper understanding of the transmission mechanism between long-term care insurance and household consumption.
